Event Details

Join us in our 46th Fiddlers’ Rally, with over 100 fiddlers from across Scotland joining the Elgin Strathspey and Reel Society to play a variety of Scottish Music including Strathspeys, Slow Airs, Jig and Reels. Conducted by Angus Hull with Compere for the evening Gary Coull. We are delighted to have as Guest Artiste for 2019 Leonard Brown (Accordion) and Malcolm Ross (Drums).

Leonard is a multi-instrumentalist who first became involved in music at the age of 4, learning piano. At the age of 15 he achieved Grade 8 Standard and studied at Newcastle University where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. The accordion has been a great love of Leonard’s ever since we received one for his 11th Birthday. After competing as an Irish Dancer for four years from the age of 7-11 he took the accordion up and has since won many prestigious titles including the All Scotland Accordion Championship which he won in 2012. He has won Guest Artiste of the Year in the NAAFC and has also won The CD of the year competition previously.

Leonard is currently on his 10th Anniversary Tour and is very much looking forward to appearing at the Elgin Rally.

Malcolm Ross first started playing drums age 6, passed his BBC Audition aged 11 playing in his father Lindsay Ross’ band. Since then, Malcolm has enjoyed a fabulous career playing with all of the top musicians in Scotland as well as having a very successful career as a theatre performer in musicals. Having recorded on over 1,000 albums in his career he enjoys playing an eclectic range of genres including Scottish, Jazz and Latin American.
