SKERRYVORE bring their ‘Saltire Series’ show to Elgin Town Hall, a first visit to this venue for the band. Celebrating 15 years of performing and recording in 2020, SKERRYVORE spend most of their time on the road, in Scotland, throughout the UK, and worldwide in Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.

SKERRYVORE represent the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music. Their distinctive sound and style together reflect the different personalities and styles of the 8 band members to create a wonderful mix of songs and tunes. Bagpipes, accordions and fiddles meet kicking rhythms of guitar, bass and drums, and when you add in keyboards and whistles, it’s no surprise they have a growing worldwide fanbase.

The ‘Saltire Series’ gigs are an opportunity to play their set in a more reflective mood than festival crowds usually allow! Audiences will be able to hear SKERRYVORE favourites from across their 15 years, some as originally played, with new arrangements of others. There will also be the opportunity to have an introduction to one or two newer, not yet released pieces of material.

Joining SKERRYVORE for the 2021 Saltire Series gigs will be singer/songwriter Norrie ‘Tago’ MacIver from Carloway in Lewis, though currently living in Fife. Currently singer and front man of SKERRYVORE friends ‘Skipinnish,’ Norrie released a solo album in 2014 and is currently working on new material for his second album.

Also on stage will be Moray local, ‘guitar powerhouse and talented lyricist,’ Calum Jones. Inspired by blues, rock, folk and the Celtic heritage of his Scottish home, Calum is adept with big riffs and bold melodies that back his thought-provoking lyrics.
